Sony Launches XYN 3D Capture Suite in US and Canada With Subscriptions

San Diego – October 28, 2026 -- Sony has made its XYN spatial capture solution available in the United States (excluding U.S. territories) and Canada through subscription plans, token packs and online credit card purchasing, targeting buyers from freelancers to enterprise studios.

XYN comprises three applications: XYN Spatial Scan Navi, an iPhone app that guides capture; XYN Spatial Scan, a cloud application that generates 3DCG assets from real-world spaces; and XYN Spatial Renderer Plugin, which displays the assets in virtual production. The Navi app works with iPhone 15 Pro, 16 Pro and 17 Pro models, including Max variants, running iOS 18, 26 or later.

Paid plans bundle tokens, while the free plan sells them individually

Every plan includes application licenses. Paid plans come with token allocations for 3DCG asset generation, and the free plan lets users buy tokens as needed. A token is required for each asset generated in XYN Spatial Scan.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate unless cancelled before the renewal date. Tokens expire six months after they are granted, whether or not they have been used, and are non-refundable. Sony plans to extend token use to additional XYN applications, but says availability is not guaranteed.

XYN Venus algorithm now converts physical objects into 3DCG assets

Since the April 2026 announcement, Sony has updated all three applications to cover subjects from props and consumer products to vehicles and larger industrial assets. The XYN Venus algorithm, which powers XYN Spatial Scan, now generates objects as well as virtual production backgrounds. Users can specify the range of the object to be generated.

Assets retain transparency and gloss and can be displayed on PCs, compatible smartphones and large LED walls with HDR and color management support. Sony cites props for films and games and reference materials for product design among the use cases. Users can also set generation quality and color workflow parameters.

In XYN Spatial Scan Navi, Object: Assist Mode lets users specify the scan area by subject size and guides them to keep a consistent distance while capturing the full circumference. Sony notes limits on the size of subjects that can be captured.

Renderer plugin adds Aximmetry integration alongside Unreal Engine and Disguise

The XYN Spatial Renderer Plugin gains splat editing, splat processing and flicker suppression for assets displayed in Unreal Engine. It works in virtual production workflows using green screens or LED walls. Existing support for Unreal Engine and Disguise RendererStream is joined by integration with Aximmetry's virtual production platform.

Director of Photography Erik "Wolfie" Wolford said the tool lets crews scan a location and "digitally fold and hold" it for later reshoots. Justin Kirchhoff of Texas A&M University's Virtual Production Institute said the solution can preserve historical buildings as faithful models at a specific point in time.

Sony to roll out Lab apps for creator testing by end of 2026

Sony plans to begin rolling out Lab apps by the end of 2026, letting creators test features and algorithms still in development within the XYN platform. Sony says it will incorporate creator feedback into future development. The company notes that specifications and features may change or be discontinued without notice.
