SWEAR Launches Video Authentication Program for Cities, Police Agencies

Boise, Idaho – September 15, 2026 -- SWEAR, a digital content authenticity firm, has launched the Community Video Integrity Project, a program that lets municipalities and law enforcement agencies cryptographically verify surveillance footage from the moment it is recorded.

53% of Americans cannot reliably distinguish AI-generated video from authentic footage, Pew Research found in 2025

That erosion of trust is pushing public agencies to move beyond simply presenting video evidence toward proving its authenticity, particularly for investigations, courtroom use, and public accountability.

Selected participants will deploy SWEAR technology across high-priority cameras integrated with Milestone XProtect

The program targets organizations already running Milestone XProtect video management software, layering an independent cryptographic authentication record on top of existing surveillance infrastructure. SWEAR's system creates a verifiable, unalterable record of footage from the point of capture, giving agencies documentation that can withstand legal or public challenges to evidence integrity.

Milestone Systems and integrator Stone Security back the initiative as an extension of existing video infrastructure

Tim Palmquist, Vice President Americas at Milestone Systems, said authenticity is becoming part of the standard for trusted video as AI-enabled manipulation grows more accessible. Andy Schreyer, Vice President of Technology at Stone Security, a BearCom company, said the initiative gives organizations a practical way to address a challenge in video integrity that will intensify over time.

SWEAR CEO Jason Crawforth said the ability to prove footage is unchanged from capture has become essential for evidence used in investigations, court proceedings, and public disclosure.

Applications for the program are open to public-sector security leaders and existing Milestone customers

Interested municipalities, law enforcement agencies, and other public organizations can apply directly through SWEAR's program page.
