Temu Plans $200M Compliance Spend as Warehouse Labs Pass Audit

DUBLIN – October 29, 2026 -- Temu plans to invest approximately US$200 million globally in compliance and quality assurance in 2026, twice its 2025 level, as laboratories inside its fulfilment partners' warehouses pass an independent Bureau Veritas assessment.

Bureau Veritas audits equipment, staff and quality systems at Temu's warehouse labs

Bureau Veritas evaluated the laboratories' testing equipment, facilities and environmental conditions, technical personnel, operating procedures and quality control systems. It confirmed the labs meet the technical requirements to run specified tests against selected European standards.

The assessment covers technical capability only. It does not constitute product certification, and the labs do not replace sellers' responsibility to meet applicable regulatory requirements.

Spot checks now cover appliances, textiles and toys

The laboratories are operational and run spot checks on selected products. Tests include electrical safety on appliances, performance checks for textiles and tests against applicable toy safety requirements.

The checks add a third control point to Temu's pre-listing checks and ongoing post-sale monitoring. Temu says the aim is to identify potential compliance issues before selected products ship to consumers.

Temu and Bureau Veritas have worked together since 2023

The partnership spans product testing, random spot checks, third-party testing services for sellers and seller education. Covered categories include textiles, electrical and electronic goods, beauty and personal care, food contact materials, personal protective equipment and jewellery.

A Bureau Veritas spokesperson said Temu's teams are dedicating "substantial time and effort" to strengthening in-house product testing.

Temu works with more than 60 testing institutions and eyes further partners

Besides its own labs, Temu works with more than 60 independent testing institutions worldwide. It is also exploring collaborations with additional testing organisations to expand its in-house laboratory capabilities.

Temu has also expanded its seller education programmes. A recently announced series connects sellers with testing and compliance specialists for practical guidance on regulatory requirements, product testing and certification.
