Truveta Data: 40% of Early Foundayo Users Had No Prior GLP-1 Use

United States – October 27, 2026 -- An analysis of 5,723 patients on Foundayo (oral orforglipron) found that 40.3% had no evidence of prior GLP-1 medication use, according to Truveta, which is pitching real-time "healthcare intelligence" to life science, healthcare and government teams.

Foundayo uptake runs mostly through primary care

Truveta researchers used Truveta Data to identify patients with a Foundayo prescription or medication dispense between April 1 and July 6, 2026. The drug was approved for obesity in April 2026.

General practice clinicians accounted for 60.0% of prescriptions, and advanced practice providers for another 31.9%. Only 0.1% of patients had evidence of recent oral semaglutide use.

Truveta says three months is too short to assess long-term outcomes or treatment persistence. It is enough to show who is receiving treatment and how adoption is taking shape, the company said. Trial data on efficacy and safety already existed at approval, but routine-practice uptake did not.

Truveta separates healthcare intelligence from real-world evidence

Truveta defines healthcare intelligence as the combination of real-world healthcare data, analytics and AI to monitor change and flag questions for deeper research. It distinguishes the approach from healthcare AI tools that document visits, summarize charts or search literature.

The company also says healthcare intelligence is not real-world evidence, which requires more formal study design, validation and methodological rigor.

Target use cases include:

  • early views of therapy uptake and switching patterns
  • clinical trial feasibility, site identification and study design
  • detection of unexpected utilization changes and potential safety signals
Truveta lists four standards buyers should demand

Truveta says organizations evaluating such tools should check four criteria:

  • Timely data: daily refreshed data, so teams need not wait for claims to mature.
  • Clinical depth: EHR detail such as lab results, clinical notes, imaging and longitudinal treatment histories, beyond claims.
  • Verifiable answers: transparent population definitions, included data, outcome measures and limitations.
  • A path to evidence: early findings that carry into safety analyses, observational studies or regulatory-grade work.
Truveta Intelligence draws on data covering more than 140 million patients

Truveta Intelligence lets users query real-world data in natural language. It runs on Truveta Data, a daily refreshed view of patient care covering more than 140 million patients. The dataset includes electronic health records, clinical notes, images, linked claims, mortality data, social determinants of health and more than 10 years of longitudinal history.

Teams that need formal validation can move findings into Truveta Evidence on the same data foundation, without starting a separate workflow.
