Fort Lauderdale – October 28, 2026 -- Villa Vie Residences has suspended operations in Cambodia after monthly fuel expense per cabin rose from a historical average of about $1,800 to an estimated $6,000-$8,000 in parts of Asia, and the company is now evaluating restructuring and recapitalization alternatives.
Fuel costs per cabin have more than tripled in parts of Asia
The company said the increase is too large to pass on to residents. The resulting shortfall has put its current operating model under what it called unsustainable financial pressure.
Villa Vie said it had cut fuel consumption by slowing its itinerary and spending more time in port. Those measures did not offset the cost surge, the company said, and it could not keep carrying the operating losses. Fuel prices have climbed since a conflict began in late February, according to the company.
Residents face disembarkation and temporary housing
Villa Vie is working with residents to coordinate disembarkation and identify temporary living arrangements. It said it is also supporting affected crew members and employees as plans develop.
"Passing the full increase on to residents is not a realistic solution," the company said in its statement.
Restructuring talks are set for a 60-day window with no financing secured
Villa Vie is targeting restructuring and recapitalization over the next 60 days. It said the work is ongoing and no outcome is assured. No financing or transaction has been finalized.
The company said it will provide further updates as material developments occur.
