Austin – November 06, 2026 -- webAI has released its webAI app for Mac to the public for the first time, running small reasoning models locally so users can process private files without cloud uploads or per-token charges.
Local processing replaces metered cloud usage
The app executes webAI's new small reasoning models on the user's own computer. According to the company, most AI services run in the cloud, where usage is metered by tokens or capped by plan, and every document is sent to external servers. On the Mac, a user can revise a sensitive client proposal or an unfinished business plan repeatedly without hitting a token limit.
CEO and co-founder David Stout described the aim as "making cloud AI optional," adding that users keep control over what they share and can ask unlimited follow-up questions.
Personas let multiple AI experts split one task
Users create Personas, AI experts defined by a role, knowledge and tools the user selects. Several Personas can work on the same task. In the company's example, a consultant assigns one Persona to pull client requirements from project notes, a second to draft the proposal and a third to check the draft for gaps.
Connectors link Slack, DocuSign, Hugging Face and Apple apps
Connectors integrate the app with Slack, DocuSign, Hugging Face and Apple apps. Users set what each Persona can access and which actions it can take. A Persona can retrieve a client's latest decisions from Slack, identify unsigned contracts in DocuSign and draft follow-ups for the user's approval.
The webAI app is available now for Mac.
