Larkspur, Calif. – October 15, 2026 -- Energy Substantiation has listed WTIC, a token backed 1:1 by physical WTI crude oil, on LMAX Digital, giving institutional investors spot access to physically backed crude through a regulated digital asset venue. LMAX Digital is part of LMAX Group.
LMAX Digital joins Uniswap and BingX as a WTIC trading venue
The listing adds an institutional execution venue to a WTIC ecosystem that already includes Uniswap and BingX. Energy Substantiation says it broadens access to physical crude oil through digital asset markets.
Each WTIC token represents one barrel of WTI crude and is backed 1:1 by verified physical WTI inventory. The underlying oil remains in established commercial custody, with independent verification of the physical backing.
Token offers spot exposure beside futures, ETFs and energy equities
Investor participation in oil markets has historically centered on futures, exchange-traded funds and energy equities. Energy Substantiation positions WTIC as a complement to those instruments, adding spot commodity exposure through blockchain-based trading.
JP Thieriot, co-founder and CEO of Energy Substantiation, said investor access to oil has not evolved with the times, and described the LMAX Digital listing as a major step toward bringing physically backed oil into institutional digital asset trading.
LMAX Digital cites weekend macro events as a use case
LMAX Digital is a regulated institutional digital assets execution venue and custodian. It is built on LMAX Group's proprietary exchange technology and offers institutional participants price discovery, execution and access to digital asset liquidity.
Chris Knight, managing director of LMAX Digital, said major macro events can unfold outside traditional market hours, including over weekends, and that tokens such as WTIC give institutions a new way to respond.
Energy Substantiation says the listing advances its broader aim of building financial infrastructure around physical energy and other commodities. WTIC is its first asset.
