New York – September 15, 2026 -- Aqua has raised $18.8 million in total funding and launched what it calls the industry's first turnkey alternative investments platform (TAIP), targeting wealth managers, RIAs, banks, trust companies and fund sponsors.
Aqua secures $3.8 million seed round backed by Google's AI Fund and Y Combinator
The seed round preceded a $15 million Series A led by Arthur Ventures, with participation from Alumni Ventures. Aqua plans to direct the capital toward accelerating platform development, expanding engineering and partnership teams, and deepening integrations with custodians and fund sponsors.
Platform consolidates fund creation, servicing and marketplace access into single system
Aqua combines fund creation, operational workflows, investment lifecycle management, marketplace access, document intelligence and investor servicing into one environment. The company positions the platform as a replacement for the fragmented marketplaces, manual workflows and spreadsheets that firms currently use to manage alternatives programs.
Rohan Marwaha, Co-Founder and CEO at Aqua, said demand for alternatives has outpaced the infrastructure firms use to manage them, leaving advisors reliant on fragmented, manual processes.
Company argues marketplace access alone does not constitute an alternatives strategy
David Coyle, Head of Growth at Aqua, said many firms conflate having marketplace access with having a repeatable alternatives strategy, and that advisors need infrastructure to educate clients and manage operations at scale.
Aqua's leadership includes Marwaha, who previously built technology solutions for major alternative asset managers, and Coyle, who has worked on technology adoption at advisory firms for more than 25 years. Head of Growth Partnerships Joe Ujobai brings over 35 years of financial services and technology experience, including leadership roles in private banking and international expansion.
Additional partnerships with major firms expected in coming weeks
Aqua said demand for its platform is accelerating, with further partnership announcements planned in the near term.
