She left in 2001 for a seven-year run at Volvo Trucks North America as a product manager for accessories, earning an MBA from Wake Forest University in 2007 before returning to American Chrome in early 2008 to become president.

Hou's parents founded American Chrome in a Davenport garage in 1983. The company became one of the original supplier partners to Alliance Parts in the 1990s, working alongside Mack Trucks, Volvo Trucks North America and Navistar International.

The company says its kits can be ordered and installed in a fraction of that time, allowing a dealer to reconfigure inventory already on the lot.
