Unnao, India -- Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) broke ground on September 9, 2026 on its first beverage can manufacturing facility in India, a plant designed to produce approximately 2.2 billion aluminum beverage cans annually once operational.
Two-line plant in Uttar Pradesh targets 2027 startup
The facility, located in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, was first announced in April 2026 and will feature two production lines. Operations are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2027, positioning Crown to serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage segments in the market.
Crown secures official land allotment from state government
Following the groundbreaking ceremony, Crown executives met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath to discuss the project's progress. During the meeting, Crown received the official land allotment letter for the site, a formal milestone confirming the company's development rights for the facility.
Executive cites confidence in India's beverage can demand
Djalma Novaes, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, said the investment reflects Crown's confidence in the future of the Indian beverage market and the growing role of the beverage can as a sustainable packaging format. He said the Unnao facility will combine advanced manufacturing technology with operational excellence and resource management to support customer growth in the region.
Capital expenditure guidance holds at $550 million for the year
Crown continues to expect full-year capital expenditures of approximately $550 million, with the India plant representing one of the company's key growth investments in high-demand beverage packaging markets.
