DIMAAG, Toshiba Pair SCiB Batteries With ZettaWatt Platform for AI Data Centers

Fremont, Calif. – September 15, 2026 -- DIMAAG-AI, Inc. and Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) have agreed to jointly develop energy storage systems for AI data centers, pairing Toshiba's SCiB lithium titanium oxide (LTO) battery cells with DIMAAG's ZettaWatt Power Platform.

Toshiba's SCiB cells bring a decade-long safety record to the partnership

Toshiba has shipped more than 100 million SCiB cells since 2010, and the batteries are engineered to sustain continuous 10C charge and discharge cycling over a targeted service life exceeding 10 years. Under the agreement, Toshiba will supply the high-power SCiB cells while DIMAAG designs, manufactures and integrates the battery system into its Zenius modules and ZettaWatt architecture.

ZettaWatt platform targets grid volatility caused by AI workloads

DIMAAG's ZettaWatt Power Platform is a modular grid-to-800 VDC system combining power conversion, energy storage and real-time controls. The platform meets ERCOT's low-voltage ride-through requirements and reduces cyclic AI load fluctuations to less than 1% as seen by the grid, while also supporting backup power and demand response functions. Multiple ZettaWatt units can be deployed in parallel as data center campus capacity expands.

DIMAAG CTO says storage must do more than bridge outages

Ian Wright, CTO of DIMAAG and a Tesla co-founder, said energy storage in AI data centers must absorb rapid load swings, support grid ride-through, and respond repeatedly without limiting system performance. He said combining SCiB cells within DIMAAG's active-flow immersion-cooled modules delivers differentiated performance for the high-power, high-duty-cycle demands of AI facilities.

Toshiba executive cites cycle life and safety as selection factors

Greg Mack, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Power Electronics Division at Toshiba International Corporation, said the SCiB technology supports next-generation AI infrastructure through continuous 10C charge and discharge capability and a proven safety track record. The companies said the collaboration expands the range of applications for Toshiba's LTO battery technology beyond existing SCiB-based power solutions.
