New York City – September 12, 2026 -- Genesis House, the Genesis Motor North America flagship in the Meatpacking District, has partnered with New York Korean-American hospitality group Hand Hospitality to relaunch its restaurant concept later this fall.
Genesis House restaurant closes in September ahead of Hand Hospitality takeover
The current restaurant operation will temporarily close beginning in September 2026, ending Genesis House's culinary partnership with Restaurant Associates, which had run the food and beverage program since the venue opened in November 2021. Hand Hospitality, founded by Kihyun Lee in New York City in 2011, will assume leadership of the space and reopen it under a new concept later this fall; specific menu, design and timing details have not yet been disclosed.
Showroom and programming continue uninterrupted during the transition
Genesis House will maintain normal operations across its Showroom throughout the restaurant changeover, allowing visitors to view Genesis vehicles and technology, including the all-new GV90 flagship SUV, without disruption to cultural programming or exhibitions.
Genesis House has drawn hundreds of thousands of guests since 2021
Since its opening five years ago, Genesis House has hosted hundreds of thousands of visitors, combining hospitality, design and culinary programming to position itself as a Meatpacking District destination for contemporary Korean culture. Tedros Mengiste, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America, said the restaurant has been central to how guests experience the brand's Korean hospitality philosophy and that the new partnership builds on that foundation.
Hand Hospitality brings an existing New York Korean-Japanese portfolio
Hand Hospitality's current portfolio includes Jua, Cho Dang Gol, Okdongsik, Joo Ok, Hojokban, Seoul Salon and Her Name Is Han, spanning casual and fine-dining formats. Alex Park, director of Hand Hospitality, said the group aims to bridge Korean culinary tradition with New York City's dining scene at the Genesis House space. Additional details on the reimagined restaurant and reopening date are expected to be announced in the coming months.
