The updated tool performs pre-validation checks that surface formatting and matching problems ahead of an import, replacing a process that previously required staff to manually identify file types and troubleshoot errors after uploads failed. Column mapping is now automated, matching spreadsheet fields directly to NGP VAN's data fields and cutting repetitive manual setup.
Launch timed to peak election-cycle data volume
NGP VAN said the release arrives as campaigns enter the busiest stretch of the election cycle, when the volume and urgency of data moving into the platform reaches its highest point. The company framed the update as a way to shift staff time from troubleshooting uploads to acting on the data itself.
Users say the change reduces onboarding friction for new staff

Redesign leaves existing data models and permissions unchanged

The improved workflow will be optional at launch, with the legacy Bulk Upload process remaining available to users.
