Ole Albers Launches Data Fitness Check Survey on German Data Management

Hamburg – November 03, 2026 -- Hamburg data strategist Ole Albers has launched the "Data Fitness Check," a three-minute anonymous online survey of how German companies and institutions manage their data, with first results due in the Data Fitness Report 2026.

The survey is the first wave of a multi-year research series. Albers plans to track changes in data management over several years and to repeat selected questions regularly to show which organizational and technical problems persist.

Seven core questions test data sources, ownership and quality controls

The questionnaire asks whether key data sources are known, responsibilities are clearly assigned, KPIs are defined transparently and data-quality measures are in place. Supplementary questions cover day-to-day difficulties. Respondents can also use the survey to gauge their own organization's standing.

Snowflake Launches Horizon Context With 18 Metadata Connectors

Global – October 29, 2026 -- Snowflake has put metadata connectors for 18 data, BI and pipeline sources into public preview as part of Horizon Context, a governed context layer inside Horizon Catalog designed to give AI agents and analysts shared business definitions.

Snowflake introduced the layer at Snowflake Summit. It collects metadata, enriches it with business meaning and exposes it to people, BI tools and AI agents. Snowflake's stated aim is to stop teams from rebuilding definitions, such as what counts as customer retention, for every new AI use case.

Connectors cover 18 sources including Power BI, Tableau and Databricks

The supported list spans databases, BI tools and data pipeline tools: Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Sigma, Hex, dbt, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Databricks and BigQuery. Depending on the connector and its configuration, Horizon Context collects schemas, query logs, dashboard definitions and usage signals.

Capgemini Names Three Data Gaps Blocking Enterprise AI Scale

Global – October 21, 2026 -- Capgemini identifies three data failures (fragmentation, stagnation and semantic inconsistency) as the main barrier keeping enterprise AI confined to pilots, particularly in financial services and other highly regulated industries.

Capgemini's Renjith Sreekumar says scaling problems lie in data, not models

Renjith Sreekumar, Head of Oracle Cloud & AI CoE for Financial Services at Capgemini, frames the issue as a shift from "does AI work?" to why it is so hard to scale. Early gains in analysis, content creation, workflow automation and customer experience remain limited to pilots, single functions or tightly controlled use cases.

NGP VAN Overhauls Bulk Upload Tool to Cut Campaign Data Errors

Washington – September 16, 2026 -- NGP VAN has rolled out a redesigned Bulk Upload workflow aimed at eliminating one of the most error-prone tasks for Democratic and progressive campaign staff, automatically detecting file types and flagging formatting issues before an import runs.

New workflow catches errors before data enters the system

The updated tool performs pre-validation checks that surface formatting and matching problems ahead of an import, replacing a process that previously required staff to manually identify file types and troubleshoot errors after uploads failed. Column mapping is now automated, matching spreadsheet fields directly to NGP VAN's data fields and cutting repetitive manual setup.
