Kyoto – September 16, 2026 -- ROHM Co., Ltd. has developed the SDR01 Series of high anti-surge chip resistors, achieving a rated power of 0.33W in the compact 0402 (1005 Metric) size, enabling manufacturers to replace larger-size resistors while maintaining the reliability standards required for anti-surge components.
New Resistors Guarantee 0.33W Up to 125 Degrees Celsius
The SDR01 Series guarantees 0.33W of rated power up to a terminal temperature of Tk=125 deg C, easing thermal design constraints in high-density mounting environments and areas near heat-generating components. ROHM achieved this by optimizing the resistive element and electrode designs of the chip, allowing high power handling to be certified in a smaller footprint without compromising the durability expected of anti-surge products.
Temperature Coefficient of Resistance Stabilizes Circuit Performance
The new products achieve a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of plus or minus 100ppm/deg C across a resistance range of 10 ohms to 2.2 megohms. This suppresses resistance-value fluctuations caused by temperature swings, supporting stable operation in power supply circuits and peripheral interface circuits.
Component Consolidation Targets Automotive, Industrial and AI Server Markets
ROHM designed the SDR01 Series for electronic equipment facing rising mounting densities, targeting automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, and AI server applications. The resistors are intended to help engineers save board space and cut component count by consolidating multiple resistors into fewer, smaller units while meeting surge and electrostatic discharge (ESD) resistance requirements in power supply circuits and interfaces.
ROHM stated it will continue expanding its lineup of high-reliability chip resistors to support further miniaturization and higher power handling in electronic equipment.
