Hauppauge – November 07, 2026 -- Sensitron Semiconductor has launched the SPHM/SEHM Series, a family of programmable solid state power controllers (SSPCs) for 270VDC distribution. Each module switches, protects and monitors up to 16 loads, with total capacity of 160A, replacing discrete circuit breakers, solid state relays and system monitors.
Each module offers 16 channels of 1A to 10A each
The microcontroller-based, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) design provides 16 independently controlled high-side channels, each programmable from 1A to 10A. Channels can be paralleled to drive higher-current loads.
Protection circuits limit inrush and EMI
The modules use true I2t protection with thermal memory, instant-trip capability and a trip-free reset circuit. Soft turn-on and turn-off limit inrush current and electromagnetic interference.
Sensing is accurate to within 5% and reported over dual CAN or RS485
Integrated current, voltage and temperature sensing is accurate to within 5% across the full operating temperature range. Readings and channel status go to the system controller over dual CAN or dual RS485 interfaces. This supports remote diagnostics, power budgeting, load shedding and condition-based reconfiguration.
Other features include start-up and continuous built-in self-test, galvanic isolation between control interface and line power, and a bootloader with field-updatable runtime code. Onboard code space is available for customer-developed applications. Conduction cooling supports operation from -45°C to +100°C.
Sensitron claims a 15% junction temperature reduction from wide-bandgap materials
Joseph Castaldo, Sensitron's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said the controller cuts junction temperatures by 15% compared with industry-standard components. He attributed the gain to wide-bandgap semiconductor materials and pointed to demanding aerospace and defense uses.
SEHM adds an IP67 enclosure to the open-frame SPHM card
The SPHM is an open-frame card for integration into existing enclosures. The SEHM adds an IP67-rated enclosure for harsh environments. Target applications include military ground vehicles, manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, marine vessels, command and communication centers, energy exploration equipment and off-highway vehicles.
