Sobi Nominates Ex-Ericsson CEO Börje Ekholm as Board Chair

STOCKHOLM – October 30, 2026 -- The Nomination Committee of Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (Sobi) proposes Börje Ekholm, who recently stepped down as CEO of Ericsson, as new Board member and Chair at the 2027 Annual General Meeting (AGM). He would succeed David Meek, who has told the committee he will not stand for re-election.

Meek stays on as Chair until May 2027

Meek has served on Sobi's Board and as Chair since December 2024 and will remain Chair for the rest of his term, which runs to May 2027. The committee credits his tenure with strong growth and shareholder return, wider patient access through new launches and indication extensions, and a stronger clinical development pipeline.

Ekholm brings 30 years of CEO and board experience

Ekholm has more than 30 years of experience across technology, investment management and international business leadership. He previously served as CEO of Patricia Industries and Investor AB. He now chairs the Board of Trimble Inc. and joins the Board of Nasdaq Inc. effective November 1, 2026. His earlier board roles include Alibaba, Husqvarna, Scania, Nasdaq (Chair) and WM Data (Chair). He is also a board advisor for Mars Inc. and an advisor to the CEO of Ericsson.

Ekholm helped create Sobi through the Biovitrum merger

While CEO of Investor, Ekholm was involved in forming Sobi through the merger of Biovitrum and Swedish Orphan International. He then worked with the company from an owner perspective. Sobi reported 2025 revenue of SEK 28 billion and has approximately 2,000 employees.

Daniel Nodhäll, Chair of the Nomination Committee, said Ekholm has "significant global leadership and board experience" and knows the company well. The committee will publish its complete proposals in due time before the 2027 AGM.
