The facility supports physical education for Ban Nam Lat School's 62 students during the week, then opens to neighbouring villagers once classes end and on weekends. STARCARES designed the transition intentionally, given that rural schools in Sukhothai often double as the only nearby recreational infrastructure available to local households.
Local child's integration into school games highlights broader access model
A child from the surrounding community recently joined Ban Nam Lat School students in a game on the court, an interaction STARCARES cites as evidence of the space's intended cross-community function. Narinya Vejjaporn, the mother of the child involved, described the experience as emotionally significant, noting her son's enthusiasm and sense of inclusion.
STARCARES commits to recurring maintenance cycles across projects
STARCARES now funds upkeep for its renovated courts every one to two years to sustain their condition and usability. The Thailand project extends a model already applied in Vietnam, the Philippines and Nigeria, where the company applies the same build-then-maintain approach under its 'Where Tomorrow STARS Begin' initiative.
The initiative's stated focus has shifted from constructing new facilities to preserving the operational life of existing ones across multiple markets.
