EPA Awards $13.9M for Bay Area Wetland-Infrastructure Restoration

San Francisco – – October 08, 2026 -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $13.9 million to the San Francisco Estuary Partnership and the Association of Bay Area Governments to restore 1,500 acres of tidal wetland at Strip Marsh East along the State Route 37 corridor in Solano County, with construction slated to begin in 2028.

Flood cycles have destroyed 800 acres of marsh since 2000

Strip Marsh East, located within the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge, has lost 800 acres of emergent marsh since 2000 due to poor drainage that causes months-long ponding, evaporation, and hypersaline soils lethal to wetland plants. The degradation has stripped habitat from endangered species along a stretch of Highway 37 already prone to flooding.

Ribo Files EU Phase I Application for INHBE-Targeting Obesity siRNA RBD3133

Suzhou – October 08, 2026 -- Suzhou Ribo Life Science (06938.HK) and its Swedish subsidiary Ribocure Pharmaceuticals AB have submitted a Phase I Clinical Trial Application in the European Union for RBD3133, a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic targeting the INHBE gene for overweight and obesity.

RBD3133 silences a gene linked to healthier fat distribution in human genetic studies

RBD3133 is designed to selectively suppress INHBE, which encodes the protein activin E. Human genetic data show that individuals with naturally occurring loss-of-function variants in INHBE exhibit healthier fat distribution, improved metabolic profiles, and a lower estimated risk of coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
