Transcenta Licenses HiCB Bioprocessing Tech to WuXi Biologics

Suzhou – September 13, 2026 -- Transcenta Therapeutics has licensed its Highly Intensified Continuous Bioprocessing (HiCB) platform to WuXi Biologics under a non-exclusive technology agreement, securing an upfront payment of RMB 10 million plus future milestone payments.

Transcenta and subsidiary HJB grant WuXi Biologics non-exclusive rights to HiCB and ExcelPro media

Under the deal, Transcenta and its subsidiary HJB will license certain technologies tied to the HiCB continuous bioprocessing platform and its ExcelPro cell culture media to WuXi Biologics and its affiliates. WuXi Biologics will become a strategic CMC development partner supporting molecules across Transcenta's pipeline.

HiCB platform combines continuous perfusion with hybrid downstream purification to cut costs

The HiCB platform integrates intensified continuous perfusion upstream processing with hybrid continuous downstream purification, delivering higher productivity than conventional fed-batch methods while maintaining product quality through shorter residence times and optimized culture conditions. Transcenta states the platform reduces cost of goods, lowers capital investment, and enables agile, just-in-time production, while also addressing recovery yield and quality challenges for complex biologics.

Transcenta pursues broader licensing strategy to monetize HiCB technology

The agreement forms part of Transcenta's ongoing push to expand partnerships around its HiCB platform and extend its application to CMC challenges for complex biologic molecules. The company said it plans to further unlock commercial value from HiCB through additional external licensing and industry collaborations, while offering partners a flexible route to rapidly scale production capacity.
