Houthis seize Mayun island as drone strike shuts Saudi pipeline

Yemen-based Houthis have taken control of Mayun, a strategic island in the Red Sea. Saudi Arabia's cross-peninsula pipeline was shut after drones launched from Iraq struck it. Saudi Arabia has fought the Houthis for the past decade without success, which Egan-Jones attributes partly to Yemen's mountainous terrain and the fighters' persistence.

Leidos Tests Three Air-Defense Systems in Army's Reveille Forge

Reston – October 12, 2026 -- Leidos has completed Jailbreak Sprint 1.5 at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, bringing its ALPS surveillance system into the U.S. Army's new Reveille Forge integration and testing environment, following three Leidos systems tested at the first sprint in June.

Reveille Forge follows the Army's Operation Jailbreak exercise held earlier this year. It is intended to surface system interoperability problems earlier in development, before technologies reach soldiers in the field.

Reveille Forge replaces periodic events with a persistent integration model

The Army designed the environment to move integration from periodic events to a persistent "integrate-first" approach. Government, industry and academia can test earlier how technologies work together.

Architecture and engineering firms were evaluated separately. Each of the six categories has one winner and two honorable mentions per industry, which yields the 12 winners and 24 honorable mentions.

Reveal Launches Farsight 2.0 as Army Orders $9.5M More

Bozeman – October 12, 2026 -- Reveal Technology Inc. launched Farsight 2.0, its 3D mapping and terrain intelligence platform, alongside a new $9.5 million U.S. Army purchase order under its existing GSA IDIQ contract.

The second delivery order covers procurement, distribution, training and sustainment of Farsight for additional infantry brigades.

Farsight 2.0 fuses imagery from all available sources into one global world model

The update pulls drone, satellite and sensor imagery into a single terrain picture that refreshes as new data arrives. This includes imagery crossing command and control networks. Units no longer depend solely on what they collect themselves, so operators can start from the most current terrain available and spend their time on analysis rather than on building the picture.

Cell Impact Accelerates SEK 5.3M US Flow Plate Order to April 2027

Karlskoga – October 12, 2026 -- Cell Impact will deliver most of a SEK 5.3 million flow plate order within two quarters, after a US-based fuel cell and electrolyser OEM asked for a faster delivery rate. Final delivery is expected in April 2027.

Customer brings forward a two-year delivery schedule

Cell Impact announced the follow-up order in June. Deliveries were then scheduled over two years, starting in the third quarter of 2026.

The customer has since asked for a higher delivery rate on the volume already ordered. CEO Daniel Vallin said most of the order will now be manufactured and delivered over the next two quarters.

Material already in stock boosts cash flow impact

The company says the earlier deliveries strengthen its cash flow and have a positive effect on liquidity. The effect is stronger because the material for the flow plates is already in stock.
