Seoul – October 12, 2026 -- Hyosung TNC supplied its recycled functional polyester yarn regenTM ASKIN for the official race shirts at SMTOWN RUN CLUB 26, held Oct. 3 at Wangsan Marina in Incheon, after joining the SM Entertainment event as main sponsor.
Artists from SM Entertainment and other participants wore the shirts during the run. The event let the textile materials company test recycled yarn in a live running environment, as demand for recycled materials continues to grow across fashion and sports.
regenTM ASKIN combines recycled content with cooling and UV protection
The yarn offers cooling and moisture management with quick-drying properties for runners. UV protection and enhanced opacity add everyday practicality.
Hyosung TNC booth collected consumer input on future performance wear
The on-site experience booth showed visitors how PET bottles can be turned into yarn. Visitors were also asked to share their running experiences and the functions they want in future performance apparel. Hyosung TNC plans to use the feedback as a reference when developing future functional materials.
Field test with runner Stone of 262WAVE preceded the race
Before the event, Hyosung TNC held a field-testing session with Stone of 262WAVE, a well-known figure in Korea's running community, and company employees who run regularly. Stone and the employee runners returned on race day to run the course together.
CEO Chang Hwang Lee said that giving people firsthand experience of recycled materials is key to encouraging wider use, and that the company will fold consumer feedback into future material development.
