AXN Wins USMCA Certification for Louisville Axle Output

Louisville – October 16, 2026 -- AXN Automotive Systems, a member of Randoncorp, has received United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) certification for axles built at its Louisville, Kentucky, plant, which can produce up to 100,000 axles a year.

The certification confirms the Louisville-made axles meet USMCA regional content and manufacturing requirements. AXN says this gives customers a verified North American supply chain for sourcing.

AXN is investing nearly $15 million in the Louisville plant over the next decade

The certification follows AXN's move into its new Louisville manufacturing facility in spring 2026. The investment, to be completed over the next decade, is meant to support long-term growth and higher production capability. The plant serves both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and aftermarket customers.

Cedro Wins Environmental Approval for R$3.6bn Porto do Meio Terminal

Belo Horizonte – October 16, 2026 -- Cedro Participações has cleared the main regulatory hurdle for Porto do Meio, a R$3.6 billion iron ore terminal planned at the Port of Itaguaí in Greater Rio de Janeiro. The State Environmental Control Commission (CECA) approved issuance of the Integrated Environmental License (LAI) on Tuesday, October 13.

The company describes the decision as the project's most significant milestone so far. It confirms the terminal's environmental feasibility and allows Cedro to move into the next project phases.

License covers initial handling volumes below 15 million tonnes per year

In this first phase, the license covers throughput of less than 15 million tonnes annually. Cedro won the federal auction for the ITG02 area in December 2024 and signed a 35-year lease, renewable for an equal period.

CGI: Batch Collections Systems Leave Data Stale for Nearly 24 Hours

CGI: Batch Collections Systems Leave Data Stale for Nearly 24 Hours

Global – October 16, 2026 -- Collections systems built on batch updates can leave account and contact data stale for nearly 24 hours, according to CGI, which is urging lenders to move to real-time platforms as portfolios grow more complex and delinquencies rise.

Overnight batch cycles refresh collections data only once per day

Many collections operations rely on batch processing because their systems support nothing else. Updates post to accounts and contacts overnight and can require system downtime. A change made just after processing, such as a payment, a new phone number or updated consent, goes unseen until the next cycle.

Stale data means wasted outreach, inconsistent treatment and avoidable compliance exposure, CGI says.

Agentic AI Tests Insurers' Operating Models, CGI Research Finds

Global – October 15, 2026 -- Only 19% of insurance executives believe their operating model is agile enough to support digital transformation, even though 71% say digitalization is already affecting it, according to CGI's 2026 Voice of Our Clients research.

Agentic AI moves insurers from managing interactions to orchestrating outcomes

Conversational AI can explain what a policyholder should do after storm damage. An agentic system could go further: authenticate the customer, check coverage, open the claim, collect information, arrange services, initiate permitted payments and send proactive updates. A human claims professional steps in when judgment or extra support is required.

CPSC Exempts Fuel Additives From Flame Rules, Saving $10.7B

Washington – October 15, 2026 -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has eliminated federal requirements for fuel additive containers, saving businesses an estimated $10.7 billion over 30 years and removing $545.7 million in annual regulatory costs.

CPSC rules fuel additives are not flammable liquid fuels under the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act

The action clarifies that additives used to clean engines, improve performance, extend engine life, prevent weather-related effects, or stabilize fuel do not qualify as "flammable liquid fuels" under the Act. Manufacturers of these products will not have to equip containers with flame mitigation devices designed for gasoline cans and other portable fuel containers.

Marengo Wins Second FDA Fast Track for Invikafusp Alfa

Cambridge, Mass. – October 15, 2026 -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted a second Fast Track Designation to Marengo Therapeutics' invikafusp alfa, extending the drug's expedited status from one tumor type to all tumor mutational burden high (TMB-H) solid tumors regardless of tissue of origin.

The new designation covers unresectable, locally advanced or metastatic TMB-H solid tumors that have progressed after prior treatment, including immune checkpoint inhibition, and for which no satisfactory treatment options exist. Marengo believes invikafusp alfa is the first immuno-oncology T-cell agonist to receive Fast Track Designation in a biomarker-defined, tissue-agnostic indication.

Sharps Assure Named Top Veterinary Sharps Disposal Option in Review

New York – – October 15, 2026 -- Expert Consumers has named Sharps Assure a top choice for veterinary clinics, citing flat-rate mail-back kits, container sizes from 1 quart to 28 gallons, and no required long-term contracts. The review is published on an affiliate site that may earn commissions from sales made through its links.

Flat-rate kits replace recurring pickup fees

Each Sharps Assure kit price covers the container, return packaging, authorized shipping, treatment and final disposal. The review contrasts this with scheduled pickup services, which can charge for visits whether or not a container is full. Clinics order another kit only when they need more capacity, which ties spending to actual waste volume.

The review says this suits independent offices, mobile veterinarians, specialty clinics and shelters with low or changing volumes. It also names newly opened practices that cannot yet predict monthly sharps output.

Halfpricesoft Launches ezW2 2026 With Direct SSA, IRS E-Filing

Redmond – October 15, 2026 -- Halfpricesoft.com released ezW2 2026, tax software that starts at $119.00 per single installation for the E-File version and $69.00 for the Print-and-Mail edition, ahead of the 2027 tax season.

Both editions support unlimited forms for unlimited companies. The software covers W-2, W-3, 1099-NEC and 1096 preparation.

Direct in-app filing removes the need for agency accounts

The recommended filing path transmits W-2/W-3 data to the Social Security Administration (SSA) and 1099-NEC/1096 forms to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from inside the application. Users do not need an IRS Transmitter Control Code (TCC) or SSA registration, so they skip those application processes.

Submissions run through Halfpricesoft's authorized systems. The company says users get real-time status updates and error monitoring.
