Ashland, Missouri – October 02, 2026 -- ABK Biomedical Inc. has launched construction of a commercial-scale manufacturing facility at Cartwright Business Park in Ashland, Missouri, designed to produce its Eye90 microspheres for liver cancer treatment. The groundbreaking, attended by Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, follows the company's April announcement selecting Ashland for its long-term U.S. manufacturing base.
Facility targets commercial-scale output of yttrium-90 radioembolization device
The planned Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility will be built for commercial-scale production of Eye90 microspheres, a clinical-stage yttrium-90 radioembolization device still under development for liver cancer treatment. The devices remain investigational and are not approved for use outside authorized clinical trials.
Site proximity to MU Research Reactor secures irradiation supply chain
The Ashland location sits near the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR), identified as ABK Biomedical's primary irradiation partner for Eye90 microspheres. The partnership between ABK and the University of Missouri/MURR dates back nearly a decade, according to Mike Mangano, President and CEO of ABK Biomedical.
Project timeline runs through 2028 commissioning
Construction is scheduled for completion in 2027, with commissioning plans set for 2028. The facility is expected to create high-tech manufacturing jobs in the mid-Missouri region and serve as a cornerstone of ABK Biomedical's future global supply chain as it advances Eye90 microspheres toward potential commercialization.
State and local development partners join construction effort
COR Development and Coil Construction are executing the build. David Coil, President of Coil Construction and co-founding partner of COR Development, said the facility is designed specifically for ABK Biomedical's specialized manufacturing requirements.
