Chicago – September 15, 2026 -- ABOC, also known as Amalgamated Bank of Chicago, has relocated its corporate headquarters and opened a new full-service branch at 101 N. Wacker Drive in the city's Loop neighborhood, occupying roughly 40,000 square feet of office and retail space.
Bank consolidates operations into two executive floors plus ground-floor branch
The new footprint includes two floors dedicated to executive offices and operational teams, alongside a full-service branch on the ground floor at the corner of Wacker Drive and Washington Street. Founded in 1922, ABOC serves unions, public entities, businesses and individuals nationwide, and describes the move as a milestone in its relationship-driven banking model.
CEO frames relocation as evidence of institutional stability and growth
"This move represents much more than a change of address," said Nick Weaver, CEO and President of ABOC. "It is a testament to the success, stability and momentum we've built as a bank." Weaver said the space is intended to enhance the customer experience and support long-term growth.
Branch build-out to add banker offices, ATM and night-deposit services
ABOC is partnering with building ownership to remodel the plaza fronting the bank. Once construction is complete, the branch will include dedicated banker offices, teller and customer service areas, an ATM, night-deposit capabilities, and an open layout facing the renovated 101 N. Wacker lobby.
Headquarters design adds Trust and Investment Center, employee amenity floor
The new headquarters includes open work areas, private offices, meeting rooms, a boardroom, reception and café spaces, and a dedicated Trust and Investment Center. An employee amenity floor and open lounge were added to support internal collaboration.
Project delivery involved GARNETT Architects, Cushman & Wakefield, Executive Construction Inc.
GARNETT Architects led design of the headquarters and branch, Cushman & Wakefield represented ABOC in the real estate search and lease negotiations, and Executive Construction Inc. led construction. Weaver credited union tradespeople and subcontractors for completing the project.
