accessiBe Launches Code Agent to Flag WCAG Issues in GitHub PRs

New York – September 19, 2026 -- accessiBe has launched Code Agent, a tool that reviews GitHub pull requests against WCAG 2.2 AA standards and proposes inline fixes before code merges into production. The capability is live in beta for eligible accessFlow customers.

Code Agent flags the exact line causing an accessibility issue inside the pull request

The tool runs automatically when a pull request opens or updates, or can be triggered manually. It writes a suggested fix directly in the PR, similar to a teammate's review comment, while developers retain full control to accept, reject, or discuss the change in the thread. Nothing merges without developer review.

Teams can set severity thresholds and require Code Agent to pass before merge

Engineering teams can exclude specific files or rules to limit noise, and can gate merges on Code Agent passing, the same way they already gate on tests and lint. The tool currently supports Vanilla HTML/JavaScript, React, and Next.js, with framework detection that teams can override.

CEO Robert Lopez says catching issues after shipping costs more than fixing them at commit

"Accessibility needs to be how software gets built, not something layered on after," said Robert Lopez, CEO of accessiBe. "Every issue that reaches a developer after code has shipped costs more to fix than it would have the first time, and leaves that exposure sitting in production longer than it should."

Code Agent runs on the same engine powering accessWidget, accessFlow, and accessScan

The new tool shares its underlying engine with accessiBe's existing runtime remediation tool accessWidget, its monitoring and remediation suite accessFlow, and its automated scanning tool accessScan. A fix proposed in a pull request reflects the same standard applied once a site goes live, according to Sharon Uda, VP of R&D at accessiBe, who described the tool as putting the industry's long-discussed "shift left" approach into practice.

Existing accessFlow customers can request activation through their account manager

Existing customers can enable Code Agent by contacting their account manager, while new customers can reach out to accessiBe directly for access.
