The Latvian clearance is the initial step in a phased European commercialization plan, with additional national registrations and launches slated to begin in 2027 in France, Sweden and Lithuania. Ferrabait delivers stop-feeding activity within three days, targets cereals to high-value vegetables
Ferrabait® is approved for use across cereals, rapeseed, potatoes and high-value vegetable crops, offering rapid stop-feeding action and control of slugs and snails within the first three days of application. ADAMA states the product is engineered to limit crop damage and preserve yield and quality in affected fields.
Desidro Technology and 12-component formulation aim to outperform ferric phosphate rivals
The molluscicide relies on ADAMA's proprietary Desidro® Technology, which uses a multi-stage drying process at controlled humidity to produce a pellet with enhanced integrity and durability. Comparative testing cited by the company shows Ferrabait® maintains longer field performance in wet conditions and greater resistance to mold than leading ferric phosphate-based competitors. The formulation pairs Feralla® with 12 additional components designed to increase bait attractiveness to slugs and snails.
Feralla active ingredient gained EU low-risk substance status in 2025
Feralla®, the active ingredient underpinning Ferrabait®, was approved by the European Union as a low-risk active substance in 2025, clearing a regulatory pathway for the product's subsequent national registrations.
Germain Boulay, ADAMA's Global Head of Herbicides and Molluscicides, said growers face mounting pressure to protect crops while meeting tightening regulatory and sustainability requirements, and that Ferrabait® is intended to give them an added tool for managing slug and snail infestations without compromising field performance.
