Advanced Conversion Picks Peak Nano Film for 800V+ SiC DC-Link Kit

Valley View – October 12, 2026 -- Peak Nano's NanoPlex LDF film holds 95% of its room-temperature breakdown strength at 135°C and handles 25% more current than traditional film at the same voltage and temperature, without derating. Advanced Conversion has selected it as the dielectric for its new HP Drive Test Kit, a DC-link inverter solution for 800V+ Silicon Carbide (SiC) power electronics.

Advanced Conversion is a wholly owned subsidiary of Electro Technik Industries (ETI) of Clearwater, Florida. The companies describe the kit as one of the first fully domestic DC-link solutions for high-voltage e-mobility. Target platforms include Formula E and performance automotive, electric buses and heavy trucks, off-highway and industrial vehicles, and electrified aviation.

Faster SiC switching has outpaced conventional DC-link films

SiC devices switch faster, run hotter and operate at higher voltages than conventional DC-link films were designed for. Designers of traditional-film systems add film and capacitance, oversize assemblies and invest in extra cooling to meet reliability targets. That overbuilding undermines the efficiency gains SiC is meant to deliver.

NanoPlex LDF uses a nanolayer polymer architecture that maintains charge stability at elevated temperatures. The resulting 50° thermal margin lets capacitors sit directly adjacent to hot SiC modules without a thermal buffer.

Designers can cut film volume or raise voltage ratings in the same footprint

Engineers can use less film to shrink capacitor size and cost. Alternatively, they can keep the same film volume and capture a higher voltage rating within the same footprint.

The kit builds on Advanced Conversion's patented Power Ring DC-link integration platform. The platform delivers ultra-low loop inductance and superior thermal coupling, in a geometry that integrates directly with motor housings.

Edward Sawyer, CEO of Advanced Power Conversion Solutions, said traditional film supply has tightened and that NanoPlex LDF gives the company a domestically sourced, high-performance alternative customers can qualify with confidence. Peak Nano CEO Jim Welsh said the market moved to 800V and SiC faster than DC-link components could follow, forcing trade-offs in size, weight and cooling.

U.S.-designed film targets OEM and Tier 1 onshoring priorities

The conventional capacitor film supply chain is heavily concentrated outside the U.S. NanoPlex LDF is designed and engineered domestically. Combined with Advanced Conversion's domestic manufacturing, the companies say the solution supports OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers de-risking supply chains in EV, power electronics, and defense and national security sectors.

Engineering leaders will cover how NanoPlex LDF addresses thermal, electrical and packaging challenges in 800V+ SiC inverters. Advanced Conversion has developed a test kit that lets design engineers evaluate NanoPlex LDF with their inverter module of choice. Availability and pricing are available on request from Advanced Conversion, and program managers seeking early access can contact either company.
