San Antonio – September 25, 2026 -- Alta Home Lending has been selected by DRB Group, one of the nation's largest homebuilders, as its mortgage joint venture partner for the West, following a competitive search and extensive due diligence. The new venture, DRB Home Loans, will serve DRB homebuyers in Texas, Colorado and Arizona. DRB Group announced the partnership on September 23, 2026.
DRB Group ran Alta through builder-community reference checks before committing
Matt Wolf, VP of Financial Services at DRB Group, said the company vetted Alta through a rigorous process, including calls to references across the builder community. He said Alta's performance history held up and that the firm structured the venture around how DRB actually runs its business rather than applying a standard model.
Alta customizes each joint venture around builder-specific priorities
Andrina Valdes, CEO of Alta Home Lending, said no two builders run their businesses the same way, so no two joint ventures should look alike. Alta designs each JV around what matters most to a given builder, whether that involves forward commitments, incentive costs or other operational factors specific to that homebuilder.
Builders are switching JV lenders in search of more transparent execution
Michelle Gonzales, Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships at Alta, said more builders in the current market are looking to switch their JV lender in search of a more transparent partner offering better execution and sales support to win buyers.
Alta's builder division has launched JVs with multiple Builder 100 companies
Alta's builder division is led by Valdes, who has more than 25 years of experience in builder joint venture lending, and Gonzales. Together they have launched mortgage joint ventures with several homebuilders on the Builder 100 list. Alta said its executive team is built to scale alongside builder partners, with additional builder partnerships expected.
