San Jose, Calif. – September 18, 2026 -- Anixa Biosciences (NASDAQ: ANIX) has appointed Carmen Guerra, M.D., M.S.C.E., F.A.C.P., to its Cancer Business Advisory Board as the company prepares to advance its breast cancer vaccine into a Phase 2 clinical trial and continues its ovarian cancer CAR-T therapy Phase 1 trial.
Guerra brings cervical cancer screening trial data tied to first FDA-approved at-home HPV test
Dr. Guerra is the Ruth C. and Raymond G. Perelman Professor of Medicine and Professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement for the Abramson Cancer Center. She serves as site Principal Investigator of the NCI-funded Self-collection for HPV Testing to Improve Cervical Cancer Prevention (SHIP) Trial, results of which are being submitted to the FDA and contributed to the approval of the first at-home HPV test for cervical cancer screening.
Guerra authored American Cancer Society clinical practice guidelines across four cancer types
She is a member of the American Cancer Society (ACS) Clinical Guidelines Development group and an author of ACS clinical practice guidelines for colorectal, cervical, lung and prostate cancers, as well as ACS guidance for clinicians on Multi-cancer Early Detection Tests. Dr. Guerra served on the ACS national board of directors from 2016 to 2023, including as Board Scientific Officer. She also developed and oversees the Penn Medicine Colorectal Cancer Screening Navigation Program and the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, which have screened thousands of individuals and provided navigation to diagnosis and treatment.
