AOI marks 25-plus years of HFC amplifier production with 1 millionth unit shipped
The milestone traces back to 1997, when AOI began building HFC amplifiers under the GainMaker platform as an ODM partner for industry vendors. The company consolidated that manufacturing legacy under the Quantum Bandwidth brand in 2023, pairing hardware with predictive software for autonomous network operations. A functioning golden Quantum 18 HGD amplifier is on display at the booth to mark the occasion.
QuantumLink Central adds self-optimization and automated impairment detection
AOI introduced four new AI capabilities within its QuantumLink remote management platform: self-optimization that recommends and applies network adjustments pending operator approval; automated impairment detection and localization designed to cut truck rolls; real-time network and device health scoring; and predictive maintenance that forecasts faults with confidence and lead-time estimates. Sahil Yadav, Head of Software and AI for AOI's Broadband Business, said the tools aim to reduce field-team troubleshooting hours so crews can focus on network upgrades instead.
QuantumWave 25G tunable SFP targets DOCSIS 4.0 transport bottlenecks
The newly debuted QuantumWave 25G Tunable SFP supports dual-mode 10G/25G NRZ operation in a single hot-pluggable SFP28 module, letting operators deploy at 10G and activate 25G later without swapping optics. A narrow-linewidth C-band tunable laser covers 48 DWDM channels across ITU channels 16-63 at 100 GHz spacing, consolidating spare-parts inventory into a single part number. The module reaches up to 40 km at 25G and 80 km at 10G on single-mode fiber, operates from -20°C to 85°C with -40°C cold-start support, and draws under 4.5W on a single 3.3V supply.
Live 3.0GHz demo signals spectrum roadmap beyond current DOCSIS 4.0 rollouts
AOI is running a live downstream demo at 3.0GHz over coaxial plant using a 3.0GHz concept amplifier, SC-QAMs, OFDM channels and a 3.0GHz DOCSIS signal generator, pointing to a spectrum migration path beyond the 1.8GHz networks currently being deployed. Steve Pederson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of AOI's Broadband Business, said the demo and the amplifier milestone together reflect the company's push toward intelligent infrastructure for broadband reliability. The Quantum18 amplifier family is on display in HGBT, HGD, MB, BLE, Bridge and GSN Node configurations for procurement and engineering teams evaluating current deployments.
