Tualatin, Ore. – September 07, 2026 -- API International has launched CleanLine, a new line of stainless steel flanges certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 for drinking-water and clean-water applications.
New Line Adds NSF Certification to Existing Waterworks Flange Range
CleanLine expands API International's waterworks and sanitary process components to serve projects that specifically require NSF-certified parts. The line was developed in response to customer demand for stainless steel components in drinking-water systems that mandate NSF certification. Ric Henderson, VP of Sales, said the certification lets the company support more drinking-water infrastructure projects using the same manufacturing and service base as its existing AWWA and ANSI/ASME flange offering.
Initial Offering Covers AWWA C228 and ASME B16.5/B16.47 Standards
The initial CleanLine range includes flanges manufactured to AWWA C228, ASME B16.5, and ASME B16.47 Series A and Series B standards, available in slip-on, blind, and weld-neck configurations with raised-face and flat-face options. Products come in dual-grade 304/304L and 316/316L stainless steel, with 316/316L suited for higher-chloride or more corrosive water conditions. Specific products include AWWA C228 Class D and Class E slip-on and blind flanges, plus ASME B16.5 and B16.47 Class 150 slip-on, blind and weld-neck configurations.
Domestic Production Supports AIS and BABA Compliance Requirements
The current CleanLine offering is domestically produced, supporting projects with domestic-content requirements, including applicable American Iron and Steel (AIS) and Build America, Buy America (BABA) provisions.
NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and 372 Address Health Effects and Lead Content
NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 evaluates materials and products in contact with drinking water for health effects, including contaminants that may be indirectly introduced into the water supply. NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 addresses lead-content compliance requirements for products used with drinking water. API International notes that matching material grade, dimensions, and pressure class alone does not make a flange NSF certified; CleanLine products have completed the applicable certification process and are listed under the company's NSF certification.
Target Applications Extend Beyond Municipal Waterworks
CleanLine flanges target municipal drinking water systems, water treatment plants, pump and valve connections, filtration and reverse-osmosis systems, potable water storage, food and beverage systems, pharmaceutical equipment, and OEM water-treatment units. The company said the line extends its reach into food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and sanitary equipment markets where NSF-certified components are increasingly specified.
Custom Flange Requirements Also Reviewed for Certification Scope
Beyond the standard CleanLine offering, API International will review custom flange requirements to determine whether they fall within the scope of its NSF certification, adding flexibility for non-standard project specifications.
