AquaAction Launches First US Cohort With 10 Water-Tech Firms in Michigan

Detroit – September 23, 2026 -- AquaAction has selected ten water-technology companies for AquaEntrepreneur Michigan, marking the organization's first commercialization wave in the United States after helping 72 companies generate CAD $260 million in annual revenue through its flagship Canadian program.

Ten Companies Enter a Ten-Month Commercialization Track

The cohort includes Accelerated Filtration, AmHyTech, DMR International, Geomind (operating as Lacuum), Green Steel Environmental, Myconaut, Nucleic Sensing Systems, Radmantis, Sequestro and Subtidal. Each will receive customized coaching, technical guidance and guaranteed pilot opportunities over ten months, targeting real-world deployment of technologies addressing pathogens, PFAS contamination, ammonia storage and water-quality monitoring.

Program Launches Alongside Michigan Blue Economy Summit

The selection was announced at the Michigan Blue Economy Summit, co-hosted with the University of Michigan-Flint, which brought together sector leaders to define priorities for the Great Lakes freshwater economy. "There is growing momentum around freshwater as a major driver of economic growth, resilience, jobs and competitiveness," said Soula Chronopoulos, President of AquaAction.

Track Record Shows CAD $260 Million in Revenue From Prior Cohorts

AquaAction's existing program has produced 550 pilot projects, secured CAD $50 million in new public and private contracts, and generated more than CAD $260 million in revenue for participating companies, according to the organization. It has also driven water savings equivalent to more than 140,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Regional Institutions Back Deployment Pathway

Strategic partners supporting the Michigan rollout include the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Urban Tech Xchange, the University of Michigan Office of Economic Development and Community Engagement, Friends of the Rouge, the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative, the Great Lakes Water Authority and the Detroit Wayne County Port Authority. The program is funded through a Maritime Innovation Grant under the Michigan Mobility Funding Platform.

US Expansion Follows July 2026 Announcement

AquaEntrepreneur Michigan represents AquaAction's first US expansion of its binational Great Lakes-St. Lawrence commercialization strategy, following a July 2026 announcement. Delaney Keating, AquaAction's Director of Programs and Operations for the United States, said the initiative aims to build rapid commercialization pathways in coordination with existing regional partners.
