Boston – September 23, 2026 -- ArcLight Capital Partners has appointed Peter Podurgiel as President and Board Director of portfolio company Advanced Power, adding a developer who has commercialized more than 11 GW of generation to a platform now advancing a 15 GW pipeline of power infrastructure for utilities, hyperscalers and data center operators.
Podurgiel brings 25 years of thermal power development to Advanced Power's leadership
Podurgiel joined Competitive Power Ventures shortly after its founding and spent over 25 years there, most recently as President of CPV Low Carbon Generation, where he led development, construction and commercialization of gas-fired generation across the U.S. and Canada. He previously served as CPV's Executive Vice President of Project Development and helped develop more than 2 GW of projects earlier in his career at US Generating Company. At Advanced Power, he will oversee day-to-day development, commercial, engineering, construction and asset management operations alongside CEO Tom Spang.
Advanced Power's 15 GW pipeline targets AI-driven electricity demand
Advanced Power, an ArcLight portfolio company since its acquisition, has developed power infrastructure for over two decades and currently holds a development pipeline exceeding 15 GW aimed at utilities, hyperscalers and data center developers building capacity to power AI workloads. The company has previously developed 6 GWac of thermal and renewable generation assets across the U.S. and Europe, with a current portfolio that includes more than 10 GW of thermal projects.
ArcLight pairs its 25-year infrastructure track record with Advanced Power's development bench
ArcLight has owned, controlled or operated over 70 GW of power and energy assets and 48,000 miles of electric and gas transmission and storage infrastructure, representing more than $90 billion of enterprise value since its founding in 2001. Angelo Acconcia, Managing Partner of ArcLight, said Podurgiel's addition strengthens the platform's ability to bring reliable, affordable power to market "at the speed and scale" utility, hyperscaler and technology partners require.
Podurgiel cites unprecedented demand for new-build generation capacity
"The demand for new-build power generating resources is unprecedented, and there are very few platforms ready and able to respond," Podurgiel said, adding that the combination of ArcLight's capital, operating depth and Advanced Power's customer relationships drew him to the role.
