ASEAN Records Honours SNACKISS Two-Tone Halal Sweet Potato Chip

Kuala Lumpur – October 12, 2026 -- ASEAN Records has recognised Malaysian manufacturer CWP Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd as the maker of the first halal-certified sweet potato snack that fuses two differently coloured real sweet potato varieties into a single chip.

SNACKISS Double Triple Sweet Potato combines purple and orange varieties without artificial colouring

The product, sold under the SNACKISS brand, gets its two-toned look naturally from real purple and orange sweet potato. It has carried MS 1500 halal certification since 2021.

The two varieties differ in taste: purple sweet potato gives a sweeter profile, while orange contributes a more savoury character. General Manager Yanice Cheong Ming Yan drew the concept from childhood memories of sweet potato tong sui.

Recognition was presented at MIHAS 2026 in Kuala Lumpur on 24 September 2026

Cheong received the award at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) during MIHAS 2026, the 22nd Malaysia International Halal Showcase.

Ipoh-based CWP, active in snack-making since 2008, targets overseas markets

CWP began in snack-making in 2008 and now develops traditional and plant-based snack concepts. It adapts products to different consumer preferences and overseas markets.

Cheong said that as the company expands into new countries, "consumer tastes are not the same everywhere." CWP continues to research and adapt its products for each market while keeping a Malaysian identity.

The company plans to enter more markets and develop new flavours. It also aims to appeal to younger and international consumers through plant-based and more health-conscious concepts.

Cheong said internationalisation from Ipoh is meant to create more opportunities and encourage local talent to build careers there.
