Berea, Kentucky – September 07, 2026 -- Astemo Americas, Inc. will invest more than $112 million to expand production of hybrid electric-vehicle motors at two manufacturing plants in Berea, Kentucky, creating 114 new jobs in Madison County.
Expansion adds nearly 300,000 square feet of production space in Berea
The investment will add production and warehouse capacity at Astemo's facilities on Mayde Road in Berea. It forms part of a multi-year program expected to generate 282 new jobs overall while scaling output of hybrid EV powertrain components at the company's Kentucky sites.
Governor Beshear calls project one of Madison County's largest single investments
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the expansion represents one of the largest single investments in Madison County in recent years and will deliver a near-record number of new jobs for the county over the coming years. Astemo's Berea operations currently produce chassis and electric powertrain components, while a separate plant in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, manufactures electric-powertrain and engine-management systems.
Company has operated in Kentucky since 1985
Tim Clark, president and CEO of Astemo Americas, said the Commonwealth of Kentucky has been a cornerstone of the company's U.S. operations since it opened its first Kentucky plant in 1985, crediting continued support from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority for the Berea expansion. Berea Mayor Bruce Fraley said the growth will have a generational impact on the community, noting Astemo is the city's largest single employer.
Astemo Americas employs nearly 15,000 across the region
Astemo Americas operates 23 manufacturing sites across the Americas with nearly 15,000 employees, including close to 6,000 employees at 12 U.S. plants. The Farmington Hills, Michigan-headquartered company last September also announced a new development center and regional headquarters in Wixom, Michigan, expected to create 200 additional jobs in Southeastern Michigan.
