Seoul – October 02, 2026 -- AUTOCRYPT has established a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) system for Plug&Charge (PnC) services in South Korea, validated across electric vehicles from six global automotive brands.
Six automakers validate shared authentication framework
The PKI infrastructure was tested on vehicles from Hyundai Motor, Kia, KG Mobility, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Tesla, enabling these brands to connect to charging point operators (CPOs) through a single authentication system rather than separate proprietary frameworks.
System runs on public V2G Root Certificate Authority
Built on a public Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Root Certificate Authority, the infrastructure allows registered vehicles to automatically authenticate and initiate charging at compatible stations. AUTOCRYPT stated the framework has the potential to extend into future payment and settlement services, removing the need for OEMs and CPOs to build and maintain independent authentication systems.
CEO cites trust framework as prerequisite for automated charging scale-up
Duksoo Kim, Co-Founder and CEO of AUTOCRYPT, said scaling PnC services requires a trusted framework securely connecting vehicles, charging infrastructure and service providers, adding that this trust foundation becomes more critical as automated charging with minimal human intervention expands.
Company plans further OEM and CPO integrations
AUTOCRYPT confirmed it is extending the PnC PKI infrastructure to additional OEMs and CPOs, with further integrations involving global automotive partners currently underway.
