B Corp Payment Processor Giv Local Donates 20% of Revenue, Undercuts Rivals

State College, Pa. – September 22, 2026 -- Giv Local, LLC, a Pennsylvania-based payment processor, is donating 20% of its processing revenue to nonprofits chosen by its merchant clients, a model that undercut a national competitor's rates for one Ohio retailer while funding local causes at no extra cost to businesses or customers.

Rate hike at national processor pushed Ohio retailer to switch

Roads Rivers and Trails (RRT), an independent outdoor retailer in Milford, Ohio, left its national payment processor after the provider raised rates without warning. Owners Bryan Wolf and Emily White evaluated multiple replacement processors before selecting Giv Local, found through the B Corp certification directory.

Giv Local funds donations from its own revenue, not merchant sales

Unlike checkout round-up programs that draw from customer totals, Giv Local's donations come entirely from its own processing revenue — 20% of revenue generated per merchant, tracked monthly and paid annually to the nonprofit each merchant selects. Merchants pay no additional fee, and customers are not charged extra at checkout.

RRT's processing rates dropped after the switch

RRT reported lower processing rates after moving to Giv Local, reversing the cost increase that triggered its search. Co-founder Bryan Wolf said a Giv Local co-founder attended an RRT community tree-planting event before the retailer processed a single transaction through the new provider.

One LinkedIn post triggered follow-on adoptions

Wolf's public account of the switch prompted other businesses in the outdoor industry and beyond to inquire about the model; Giv Local said two additional businesses are currently in the process of switching. Giv Local co-founder Sam Buckley said the broader opportunity extends beyond payment processing to banking, retail, suppliers and software, where B Corp-certified alternatives exist but remain largely unadvertised.

Company points businesses to free B Impact Assessment as a planning tool

Giv Local and RRT are both Certified B Corporations and members of 1% for the Planet. Giv Local recommends businesses use B Lab's free B Impact Assessment as a benchmarking tool for vendor and operational decisions, regardless of whether they pursue formal certification.
