Bloomberg TV's 'Advancements' Spotlights Construction AI, Open Automation

Jupiter, Fla. – September 21, 2026 -- Bloomberg Television will broadcast a new episode of "Advancements with Ted Danson" on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET, featuring four segments on construction technology, food packaging recyclability, continuous healthcare, and industrial automation.

Construction industry adopts AI and automation to accelerate megaproject delivery

The episode opens by examining how demand for semiconductor fabrication plants, clean energy projects, and transportation infrastructure is pushing the construction sector to build faster and at greater scale. The segment features Bechtel and shows how artificial intelligence, automation, and project data tools are being deployed to support craft professionals, engineers, and project managers.

Food packaging sector targets recyclable P.E.T. and pad-less tray designs

Packaging accounts for roughly one-third of U.S. municipal solid waste, with food packaging complicated further by contamination and mixed materials that many recycling systems cannot process. The segment, featuring Lucid Corp, explores design changes -- including recyclable P.E.T. packaging and pad-less trays -- alongside clearer disposal labeling intended to improve recycling rates and support a circular materials economy.

Streamcare Group segment tracks shift from episodic hospital visits to continuous specialty care

The healthcare segment addresses the clinical "white space" between hospitalizations, physician visits, and follow-ups, where gaps in monitoring can delay intervention. Streamcare Group's approach combines remote monitoring, clinical intelligence, and communication tools to extend specialty care into patients' homes, with the program including patient cases illustrating earlier-intervention outcomes.

Collaborative Systems Integration segment introduces Open Process Automation to industrial plants

The closing segment examines how AI, advanced analytics, and cybersecurity requirements are outgrowing traditional closed control architectures, which often create vendor lock-in and interoperability barriers. Collaborative Systems Integration (CSI) demonstrates Open Process Automation (OPA), a standards-based framework allowing hardware and software from multiple suppliers to operate together and giving manufacturers more flexibility to upgrade systems incrementally.

"From construction sites and food packaging facilities to patients' homes and industrial plants, emerging technologies are being used alongside new operating models and human expertise to improve how complex systems function," said Dustin Schwarz, programming director for the Advancements series.
