SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 19, 2025 – Austrian fittings manufacturer Blum has unveiled a new service initiative, Beyond Components, designed to help furniture manufacturers address rising cost pressures, increasing complexity, and a persistent shortage of skilled labor. First introduced at interzum in Cologne, the new offering represents a strategic expansion of Blum’s capabilities beyond hardware, delivering turnkey value-added solutions to support greater operational efficiency across the entire production lifecycle.
End-to-End Solutions for Streamlined Operations
Beyond Components provides a comprehensive suite of pre-assembled and flat-pack drawer systems that enable manufacturers to accelerate production timelines, simplify logistics, and reduce inventory costs. Underpinned by Blum’s long-standing development principle of “global customer benefits,” the initiative includes:
- BOX complete: Fully assembled LEGRABOX, MERIVOBOX, and TANDEMBOX drawer systems, shipped with color-matched wooden parts and a proprietary packaging solution to optimize warehouse efficiency.
- Kit variants: Complete drawer sets, including made-to-measure wooden parts and smart packaging, tailored for manufacturers offering furniture for self-assembly.
- PLICOBOX: A new flat-pack box system for living room and bedroom applications featuring tool-free assembly and a folding base for streamlined delivery.
The program is engineered to enhance value chain optimization by integrating product, packaging, and digital ordering workflows, minimizing planning errors, and eliminating the need for intermediate warehousing.
Digitally Enabled for Precision and Flexibility
A key enabler of Beyond Components is Blum’s dedicated web shop, offering intuitive configuration and transparent pricing. Manufacturers can select preferred delivery dates, with shipments dispatched directly to the workshop without fronts and from batch sizes as low as one unit.
“Our fully assembled drawers with wooden parts in colours that match the drawer sides are delivered direct to the customer in a specially developed packaging solution. They are designed for efficiency, help to optimise storage capacity in the warehouse and are available from a minimum order quantity of 1 unit in all dimensions,” explains Blum Managing Director Philipp Blum.
This digital-first approach significantly reduces the margin for error, lowers the administrative burden, and supports faster delivery to end customers—critical in today’s fast-paced, customized production environments.
Strategic Response to Industry-Wide Pressures
With furniture manufacturers facing tight margins and workforce limitations, Blum’s new service is designed to serve as a scalable, flexible answer to mounting operational challenges.
“We are in constant contact with our customers. Whether OEM, distribution or skilled work, the signals were clear: there is a need for complete customised furniture solutions on the market. In the first phase, we will be offering Beyond Components in Poland and the Czech Republic,” said Philipp Blum.
The initiative builds on existing service models operated by Van Hoecke—a Blum Group subsidiary since 2024—in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, and will be further supported by production capabilities at Blum Poland. Plans are already underway to expand availability across additional European markets.
Empowering the Future of Furniture Manufacturing
Beyond Components reflects Blum’s broader mission to deliver smart, adaptable solutions that meet evolving B2B demands in the furniture and fittings industry. By focusing on modularity, digital integration, and supply chain agility, the company continues to position itself as a strategic partner for growth in a changing manufacturing landscape.
