Delray Beach – October 13, 2026 -- The global CAM software market will grow from about USD 4.0 billion in 2026 to USD 6.4 billion by 2031, a CAGR of 9.6%, according to MarketsandMarkets. The market stood at USD 3.7 billion in 2025.
North America is forecast to hold USD 1.4 billion of 2026 market value
North America is expected to be the largest regional market, driven by a dense base of aerospace, automotive and industrial machinery manufacturers. These sectors generate high-volume part-program requirements from prototyping to full-rate production. The report says buyers in the region prefer platforms that plug into the broader enterprise technology stack rather than standalone tools.
For 2025, the software segment is expected to hold the largest market value. The machining and production segment is expected to hold the largest share, and on-premises deployment is expected to hold the largest deployment share.
CNC machining and cloud deployment post the highest forecast CAGRs
Within machining and production, CNC machining is forecast to grow fastest as job shops and machine tool operators move from manual and conventional machining to digitally programmed CNC operations. Autodesk introduced Systems Automation Modeler and a Toolpath partnership within Fusion in September 2025 to automate toolpath generation. Siemens partnered with CloudNC to bring CAM Assist to NX CAM, automating machining strategy creation for 3- and 3+2-axis programming and cutting programming time from hours to minutes.
Among deployment types, cloud is forecast to post the highest CAGR as manufacturers favor vendor-hosted platforms over self-maintained infrastructure. Autodesk's Fusion bundles CAM, CAD and simulation into one subscription that scales with the number of active programmers rather than per-workstation licenses. Dassault Systèmes reported 14% growth in cloud software revenue on its 3DEXPERIENCE platform in the second quarter of 2026, driven mainly by its Manufacturing Industries segment.
MarketsandMarkets says vendors will win CNC-driven procurement through fast setup, strong machine tool and controller interoperability, and clear attribution from programming time to cycle-time savings. For cloud, it cites enterprise-grade security, single sign-on integration and dedicated account support as key enablers.
CloudNC raises USD 20 million as Sandvik expands Mastercam channels
In September 2026, CloudNC raised USD 20 million in a round led by Nimble Ventures. The money will accelerate adoption of CAM Assist, expand into new and existing markets, and fund additional AI-powered products, including Quote Agent.
Sandvik expanded Mastercam's direct sales and customer support network in 2026 by acquiring regional channel partners in North America, Europe and India. The report describes two investment priorities: automating CNC programming through AI, and widening the customer reach of established CAM platforms.
Ten vendors lead the competitive field
The top companies named in the report are Autodesk (US), Siemens (Germany), Hexagon (Sweden), Dassault Systèmes (France), Hypertherm (US), PTC (US), SolidCAM (US), TopSolid (France), CAMWorks (US) and Mastercam (US).
MarketsandMarkets noted that its earlier edition, published in November 2024, projected growth from USD 3.40 billion in 2024 to USD 5.70 billion by 2030 at a 9.0% CAGR. That figure is the prior edition's forecast, not an updated 2026 estimate. The report also states that the available evidence does not establish that cloud revenue is growing faster than traditional CAM licensing across the whole industry.
