Charlotte, N.C. – September 15, 2026 -- Approximately 205 participants attended Carolina Complete Health Community Baby Showers held Sept. 2 across six North Carolina communities, connecting expectant and new parents with maternal and infant health resources.
Six cities hosted events with 17 community partners
Families gathered at Carolina Complete Health Community Connections Centers in Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Lumberton and Raleigh. The events included participation from 17 community partners, expanding access to local services for prenatal care, breastfeeding, newborn care, nutrition and food assistance.
Program open to non-members across the health plan's service area
The initiative served families throughout Carolina Complete Health's service area, including individuals who are not health plan members. Depending on location, events featured car seat safety demonstrations, home safety education, giveaways and essential items for growing families.
Families also connected with WIC and community-based services
Attendees learned about the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and other community-based support programs. Lori Keane, Director of Marketing, Communications and Community Relations at Carolina Complete Health, said the events give families opportunities to ask questions, meet local organizations and connect with resources in their communities.
Carolina Complete Health operates as North Carolina's largest Medicaid plan
The provider-led plan runs Community Connections Centers and partnerships with local organizations to expand access to health education and family support across the state.
