Casepoint Names Ex-ATF Privacy Chief Bisht as VP of Governance

Washington – September 18, 2026 -- Casepoint has appointed Varun Bisht as Vice President of Governance and Compliance, tapping the former Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Chief Privacy Officer to lead governance frameworks as AI adoption accelerates across government and regulated enterprise customers.

Bisht will oversee AI governance and risk frameworks across Casepoint's product and security divisions

Bisht will work across Casepoint's security, technology, product, legal, and customer-facing divisions, with responsibilities spanning five areas: strengthening security and compliance posture for government environments, establishing AI governance frameworks, advancing privacy and data governance policies, translating customer regulatory requirements into product strategy, and integrating AI-related risks into Casepoint's enterprise risk management framework.

Bisht spent four years at ATF before joining the eDiscovery platform provider

Bisht most recently served as ATF's Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy Chief for Information and Privacy Governance during his four-year tenure at the agency. He previously spent more than three years at Amazon in privacy, IT audit, enterprise risk, and incident management leadership roles, and nearly five years at Verizon in business and technology positions. He also served more than eight years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.

Bisht holds a Doctor of Information Technology from Capella University and a Master of Science in Business Analytics, Big Data from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

CEO Paul Colangelo ties the hire to rising AI-driven regulatory stakes for government clients

"The rapid adoption of AI is raising the stakes around security, privacy, compliance, and responsible governance, particularly for government agencies and highly regulated organizations," said Paul Colangelo, CEO at Casepoint. Bisht said Casepoint operates in environments "where trust is mission-critical," citing rising customer expectations for privacy, security, transparency, and accountability amid rapid technological change.

Casepoint's platform holds FedRAMP High and DOD Impact Level 5 and 6 authorizations and serves federal civilian and defense agencies, including the U.S. Department of War, alongside hundreds of enterprise customers.
