Caturus Doubles Commonwealth LNG Capacity With 7.75 Mtpa Expansion

Houston – September 18, 2026 -- Caturus LLC has unveiled a five-train, 7.75 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) expansion of its Commonwealth LNG export facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, a move that would nearly double the site's planned capacity to approximately 17.25 Mtpa.

Expansion follows a $9.75 billion financing close four months after final investment decision

The expansion comes just four months after Caturus reached final investment decision on the original six-train, 9.5 Mtpa Commonwealth LNG facility, which closed $9.75 billion in base project financing. Construction on that base project is on schedule for 2030 operations, with 8.5 Mtpa of its 9.5 Mtpa capacity already locked under long-term sale and purchase agreements.

Announcement timed to G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial and Gastech 2026

Caturus disclosed the expansion during the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial in Houston, coinciding with Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, the LNG industry's largest annual gathering of buyers, sellers and policymakers. The expansion trains are targeted to enter service in the early 2030s, following the base project's planned start-up.

CEO cites growing demand for reliable, long-term U.S. gas supply

"Global energy demand continues to grow for more reliable, affordable energy, and the United States is in a position to supply it," said Caturus CEO David Lawler. He said the company is "creating additional capacity, greater flexibility for customers and a clear path for continued growth well into the next decade."

President says upstream gas portfolio will underpin added liquefaction volume

Caturus President Tim Wyatt said the expansion extends the company's existing build-out, with its upstream gas portfolio supplying the feedstock for the additional capacity. He said the company intends to pursue the expansion with urgency while maintaining engagement with Cameron Parish officials and stakeholders.

Wellhead-to-water model spans Texas gas fields to Gulf Coast terminal

Caturus operates as the only independent U.S. company with an integrated wellhead-to-water position, producing and gathering gas from its own South Texas acreage, moving it on contracted takeaway capacity, liquefying it at a terminal it controls, and selling directly to global buyers. The company's upstream operations generate more than 1 Bcfe/d of net production across over 280,000 net acres in Texas.

Institutional backers include Kimmeridge, Mubadala Energy and CPP Investments

Caturus is privately held and backed by Kimmeridge, with strategic investment from Mubadala Energy and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. The expansion project will draw on the engineering, procurement and construction methodology, modular construction approach, and vendor relationships established during the base project build.
