Stamford, Conn. – September 28, 2026 -- Charter Communications' Spectrum brand has activated compute capacity across more than 1,000 owned and operated edge data centers, placing processing power within 10 milliseconds of 500 million connected devices in U.S. homes and businesses.
The buildout, branded Edge Compute Infrastructure (ECI) and powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing platforms, combines Spectrum's fiber network with distributed facilities to move AI processing closer to where data is generated -- a requirement as AI shifts from answering text prompts to controlling physical machines such as robots and sensors.
Spectrum signs commercial partners Cast AI, HP and Hydra Host onto its ECI platform
Cast AI will integrate its OMNI technology, running on NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra-based hardware hosted by Spectrum, to extend GPUs natively into multi-cloud environments as standard cluster nodes alongside major cloud providers. HP will demonstrate HP Z Boost, which converts GPU access from fixed hardware allocation to on-demand shared resources for rendering, visualization and AI workloads, alongside its ZGX Nano and ZGX Fury edge AI development stations. Hydra Host has reached an agreement to run its AI Factory platform on Spectrum-owned ECI capacity, extending GPU access to enterprise customers seeking edge infrastructure.
World Wide Technology to demonstrate a Unitree G1 humanoid robot at SCTE TechExpo 26
WWT, working with NVIDIA and Spectrum, will exhibit the humanoid robot performing dynamic tasks in Spectrum's booth (#B335) at SCTE TechExpo 26, illustrating low-latency, private processing for robotics and industrial automation applications. The demonstration pairs Spectrum's ECI with WWT's system-integration capabilities to support physical AI use cases where a control signal sent to a distant data center risks arriving too late to be useful.
The commercial partnerships mark what Charter calls an important milestone in adoption of the ECI platform, which is designed to serve industries requiring real-time compute proximity across the company's 45-state U.S. footprint.
