Turku – – September 28, 2026 -- Cherokee Cablevision has deployed Teleste's Luminato X32 Edge QAM platform to deliver linear television to multi-dwelling units (MDUs) across its western North Carolina footprint, supplied through integrator Mega Hertz.
Cherokee Cablevision converts IP video to QAM for existing coax infrastructure
The compact, fanless X32 platform converts incoming IP video streams into QAM signals, allowing the operator to distribute IP-delivered video services over a building's existing coaxial network without new in-building wiring. The unit supports wall or rack installation and is designed for maintenance-free operation.
Operator expands fiber network while retaining broadcast television in service mix
Cherokee Cablevision, operated by BalsamWest FiberNet, is expanding its fiber network alongside upgrades to its cable infrastructure in the region. Television remains part of the operator's service bundle as the network transitions, with the X32 now handling MDU video requirements.

Remote management gives operator centralized control across individual properties
Remote configuration and monitoring capabilities built into the Luminato X32 allow Cherokee Cablevision to manage equipment centrally, extending visibility and control over video delivery across multiple properties from a single point. The platform extends Teleste's existing Luminato broadcast technology to building-level deployments across both fiber and hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) networks.
Teleste positions broadcast delivery as complement to fiber and streaming services
Steve Condra, Senior Vice President of North America Sales for Teleste, said the shift toward fiber networks does not require every television service to become app-based, noting that broadcast delivery can operate alongside broadband and streaming offerings. Teleste (Nasdaq Helsinki: TLT1V) partnered with Mega Hertz, a value-added integrator that has served the service provider community for more than 50 years, to support the deployment at Cherokee Cablevision.
