CHINT Unveils 1,000 kV Transformers, SF6-Free Grid Tech at CIGRE 2026

Paris – September 03, 2026 -- CHINT presented a portfolio of high-voltage transformers, SF6-free switchgear and data center power systems at CIGRE 2026, targeting Europe's grid operators as they contend with surging AI-driven electricity demand.

CHINT displays 1,000 kV and 750 kV transformer technology for high-voltage transmission

Under its Green Power Grid & High Voltage lineup, the company showcased 1,000 kV low-loss, low-noise oil-immersed power transformers alongside 750 kV natural ester oil-immersed units. It also presented SF6-free medium- and high-voltage switchgear, including 24 kV, 145 kV and 420 kV SF6-free gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), aimed at cutting environmental impact in grid infrastructure.

13.8 MW integrated substation targets faster energy storage deployment

CHINT introduced a 13.8 MW PCS Integrated Substation designed for large-scale energy storage and renewable integration. The plug-and-play, oil-free unit is built to reduce on-site installation time, footprint and system losses while lowering risks of oil leakage, pollution and noise. The company also displayed cascading energy storage systems, solid-state transformers, solid-state circuit breakers and Data Center Power Pods, covering the power chain from transmission to end-use.

Data center power packages combine 400 kV interfaces with battery storage integration

Dr. Naihu Li, Vice President of CHINT T&D and Head of the CHINT Group R&D Institute, said the company's integrated substation capabilities span 400 kV transmission interfaces through medium-voltage distribution for data center customers. He noted that battery energy storage is built into these substation packages to help grid operators manage peak demand and frequency response, complemented by prefabricated, module-based power systems for data center use.

CHINT executive links AI-driven demand growth to integrated infrastructure needs

Beibei Zheng, Vice President of CHINT Global, said customers are increasingly seeking integrated, future-ready power partners rather than standalone products as AI, renewable energy and electrification reshape Europe's power landscape. During the event, CHINT engineers met with utilities, EPC contractors, consultants and technology partners to discuss high-voltage transmission, substation modernization, sustainable distribution, storage and data center power supply.
