Copenhagen – October 13, 2026 -- Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has acquired a 25% stake in the up to 1,080MW Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm through its fifth flagship fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V). The stake was previously held by a Macquarie-led consortium. The announcement did not state the transaction value.
CIP joins three existing partners in the project's reshaped ownership
CIP now sits alongside EDF power solutions (33.33%), ESB (20.83%) and Sumitomo Corporation (20.83%). CIP will act as a long-term investor and work with all partners on delivery.
Kunal Patel, Partner at CIP, described offshore wind as a "golden opportunity" for the UK to deploy home-grown clean energy at scale. Matthieu Hue, CEO of EDF power solutions UK and Ireland, said the project complements the company's existing UK and Ireland portfolio.
Five Estuaries received development consent in December 2025 after four years of development
The project lies about 40km off the north Essex and south Suffolk coast. Once operational, it is expected to generate enough electricity annually for roughly one million average UK homes.
Partners have started early procurement since consent was granted
Since consent, the partners have advanced project design, begun early procurement work and continued engagement with landowners, communities and other stakeholders.
