Teamsters at Rush Medical Center IT Contractor Demand First Contract

Chicago – October 01, 2026 -- Forty IT workers employed by TEK Systems at Rush University Medical Center will hold a press conference on Friday to press their employer to resume contract negotiations, two years after voting to unionize with Teamsters Local 743.

Union members demand bargaining after two-year wait for first contract

The workers, who provide round-the-clock IT support for networks and systems critical to patient care at Rush University Medical Center, joined Local 743 two years ago but have yet to secure an initial collective bargaining agreement. TEK Systems, the staffing contractor that employs the workers, is being called on to negotiate in good faith.

Workers seek wage guarantees and formal union protections

The Teamsters are demanding a contract covering fair wages, workplace respect, and established union protections. The press conference is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.
