CIP Commits EUR 270M to 350MW Scottish Battery Storage Project
Kilmarnock – October 02, 2026 -- Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has taken a Financial Investment Decision for Kilmarnock South, a 350 MW/1,400 MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system in south Ayrshire, Scotland, committing over EUR 270 million (GBP 232 million) through its fourth flagship fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure IV.
Construction begins with commercial operations targeted for Q1 2028
Kilmarnock South is now under construction and is scheduled to reach commercial operations in the first quarter of 2028. At four hours of duration, it will become the longest-duration asset in CIP's UK storage portfolio once operational, designed to store surplus Scottish wind power and release it to the grid during periods of network capacity.
